Happy Holidays!

We will also introduce you to the world's first online braille and DAISY bookstore. And we will tell you about the surprising response we got when we exhibited at the venerable Puget Sound Council for the Review of Children's Books.

Leadership and Self-Deception

by The Arbinger Institute, authors of The Anatomy of Peace

Number 1 on the Berrett-Koehler bestseller list and Number 1 on ours. For the sixth month in a row, and with over 600,000 copies sold by the original publisher, Leadership and Self-Deception is also on the BusinessWeek Bestseller List! Would your stereotypical large print patron read this book? Probably not. But the numbers tell the story. Put this book into your collection, and it will circulate!

What's the big fuss over yet another leadership fable? A reader, upon finishing the book said, "I can't think about my life the same way again." That reader was not some corporate CEO or so called business-guru. That reader was Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jack Anderson. Jack was actually the scourge of the CEOs and power-brokers.

How many business fable books do you know that have won that kind of praise from a muck-raking Pulitzer Prize winner? Details at:

100 Ways to Motivate Others: How Great Leaders Can Produce Insane Results Without Driving People Crazy

by Steve Chandler, author of Reinventing Yourself and other titles.

Number one on the Career Press bestseller list and number three on ours. 100 Ways to Motivate Others draws on the success of live workshops, seminars, and personal coaching programs on communications and leadership. These seminars, done for such organizations as Banner Health, General Dynamics, Scripps Hospital, Wells Fargo Banks, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and M&I Banks, appeal to managers, teachers, parents, CEOs, and coaches everywhere.

Braille and DAISY, Anyone?

ReadHowYouWant proudly announces the opening of our braille and DAISY download store. We have braille and DAISY editions of all our titles. The braille books are BRF files, which can be used to create embossed braille books or read with a refreshable braille display. DAISY is a new electronic book format that synchronizes a view of the text on screen with an audio of the book. It is ideal for blind, dyslexic, and low vision readers.

Puget Sound Council for the Review of Children's Books

This venerable book review group comprises school and public librarians from the Greater Seattle area. They were kind enough to let me show them some sample books and make a brief presentation. I had thought that they would be most interested in large print children's books, but DAISY was what caught their attention. Several of them requested additional information on how they can use this new technology with their dyslexic, visually impaired, and ELL students and patrons.

Out-of-Copyright Titles Now Available in DAISY

Just got word from our IT folk--all our classics titles are now available in braille and DAISY with links to our main web site for those who want to buy them ink on paper.

ReadHowYouWant Braille and DAISY website Launched!

See below for link to site and comments from developer. Due to DRM issues with our in-copyright books, we have not mounted them in DAISY, but they are available in braille. We will mount the out-of-copyright classics titles in DAISY format, soon. When we figure out how to handle DRM to preserve the intellectual property rights of our publishing partners, we will add the in-copyright titles as DAISY books.

Please try the site and let me know what you think.

We launched Braille and DAISY website according to plan.

California Library Association

We exhibited at the California Library Association, last week, and had a great turn-out at our booth. Nearly 100 librarians stopped to find out what we do and to get sample books to take back to their libraries. We offered a special 40% discount on orders for selected hot titles that libraries place within the 30 days following the show.

These titles included
Stillness Speaks by Eckhart Tolle, Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage for Dummies by Pat Barry, and Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins.

Why would libraries want these particular titles? Because they are sure to circulate! And we have the only large print, braille and DAISY editions.

  • Stillness Speaks will be featured in O! Magazine, next month. Talk about driving high demand!
  • Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage for Dummies is the definitive handbook that every senior needs to change or sign up for Medicare Part D coverage. This is the time of the year they need it if they want to change. The book will remain current until this time, next year. And we have the only large print editions.
  • Confessions of an Economic Hit Man has sold over 170,000 copies in hardback, was on the NYT bestseller list for 7 weeks, and will be made into a movie starring Harrison Ford.
Email library@readhowyouwant.com if you need details on the 40% discount offer. You have until December 16 to place your order.
